Don Pereira recently retired from the Minnesota DNR, where his employment began in 1983.  He spent most of his career in the fisheries research program, including serving as the Research and Policy Manager for the Section of Fisheries for over 6 years.  In 2013 he became the Chief of the Section of Fisheries, where he was able to lead and collaborate on a very effective team of fisheries managers and biologists and make meaningful changes to several key management programs.  Don remains very active professionally in a variety of activities.  He continues his appointment as a U.S. Commissioner on the Great Lakes Fisheries Commission, where he chairs the Sea Lamprey Control Board and also sits on the Sea Lamprey Research Board.  He also began part time employment this past summer in the private sector, as a Senior Fisheries Biologist with HDR.  Being semi-retired however, his bucket list remains front and center as he actively pursues a diverse array of fishing, hunting and other outdoor opportunities.
